About this work
Flowers and Shells 1919 shows a loose still life of blooms and a shell on a table. Quick strokes of paint build the petals, and the shell catches a brighter note. The marks vary in speed and pressure across the surface. Moise Kisling painted this kind of floral arrangement in a soft postimpressionist style.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the image steady on the wall. The back panel covers the edges so you see only the painting.
It fits a dining room wall above a sideboard. From the table you notice the petal strokes first, and the shell shape when you pass by. The light across the surface changes during the day.
