About this work
Flowers on the Windowsill 1913 shows a small group of blooms set near a bright window. The petals sit in loose strokes against a pale ground, with the window pane giving the scene a clear edge. Henri Matisse kept the shapes simple and the tone even across the sheet.
This fine art print is ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need to buy a frame. The matte paper keeps the soft petal tones flat and stops shine from a lamp.
It works above a kitchen sink at eye level, where morning light falls across the sill. From the doorway you see the window edge and the flower group. Closer up you notice the loose strokes on each petal.
