Fortress, Roads and Rocks by John Singer Sargent — Fine Art

Fortress, Roads and Rocks by John Singer Sargent draws a dry landscape with sharp stone shapes and narrow paths. The tones stay in pale earth shades against darker rock, so the ground feels hard and sunlit. The scene holds a still, open feel.

You get a white frame around this fine art print. The bright frame edge sets the picture off from the wall and keeps the pale ground from fading into the background.

It suits a hallway wall near the front door. You notice the rock shapes first, then the road lines as you pass by.
