Four Seasons — Fine Art

Four Seasons - 1989 shows bands of colour laid over a plain ground. The marks move across the field in loose rows. Joao Vieira built the surface with broad strokes and a steady hand. The work keeps its rhythm through the overlapping bands.

A fine art print on matte paper holds the soft tone shifts without shine. The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The surface stays open and the colour areas read clearly.

It hangs on the stairwell wall where the morning light falls across the steps. From the landing you see the broad colour bands first, then the small changes in tone as you pass.
