Gioconda 1964 by Rene Magritte — Fine Art

The image shows a woman in a dark dress with a soft grey sky behind her. Her face turns toward the light and the tones spread slowly across the picture. Gioconda 1964 stays quiet because the colours sit low and close together. You read the face first, then the rest of the scene settles behind it.

The fine art print sits inside a dark wood frame. The frame edge gives the image a clear line on the wall and keeps the grey sky from fading at the sides.

On a bedroom wall the light catches the face in the morning. From the bed you see the dark dress and the pale sky before the room fills with daylight.
