Google

A birthday cake doodle from 2010 fills the Google homepage with a layered cake and bright icing shapes. Wayne Thiebaud paints food with thick paint and clear blocks of colour.

The birthday cake doodle keeps the same blunt handling he uses for pastries and desserts. The metal hanger on the back fits straight onto a nail.

You hang this fine art print without a frame and the flat surface stays even under indoor light. The cake image works on a narrow wall in a study, where the bold icing colours read from the door and the thick paint layers hold up as you walk past.

As a guide: 40×50 cm suits a desk or small wall, 50×70 cm sits well above a sofa or bed, and 70×100 cm anchors a room as a focal piece. If you'd like advice for your space, send us your dimensions and we'll recommend a size.

For your country, this piece is estimated at 5 to 8 business days from the moment you order, including production, with free tracked delivery. Every piece is made to order by the print partner closest to you; framed pieces take a little longer because each one is framed and checked before dispatch. These are estimates, and there is no express option. Full country-by-country ranges are on our estimated delivery times page, and you can see exactly how your piece is packed.

If your piece arrives damaged, defective, or isn't what you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your order number, and keep all packaging. We will send a free replacement at no cost to you. See our refund policy for the full process.
