In the beginning Stonestown starts with a cool sky band above a darker city ground. Hiroshi Nagai builds the picture with flat colour shapes rather than brush marks. The edges stay clean, and the blue sits next to a warm orange strip without mixing.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finish can match the room around the print. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the blue field open at the top. A dark frame on a pale wall gives the orange strip a clear edge.

It works above a long sofa with a lamp on the left wall. From across the room you read the two colour bands and the flat sky. From closer up you notice the clean joins between the shapes.
