Indigo Wood — Fine Art

Indigo Wood by Sam Francis shows a deep blue field with a darker mass set against it. The paint sits in broad layers, and the rest of the sheet stays open. A dark area pulls the eye across the sheet. Much of the surface is left bare.

The fine art print uses a white frame finish, which keeps the outer edge crisp against the blue. The white line separates the image from the wall and gives the picture a clear stop. The frame does not compete with the painted layer.

It works above a desk where you read with lamp light. From there the broad blue areas hold the view, while the lighter paper shows through near the edges. The darker band draws the eye forward.
