Irises 2 — Fine Art

Irises 2 takes a close look at iris flowers and their strappy leaves set against a soft painted ground. Claude Monet works the petals and leaves in loose colour strokes that do not harden into outlines. The picture stays with the garden motif that runs through much of the artists work.

A fine art print keeps the painted colour strokes readable on the paper. The frame finish can follow the room, so a light frame sits on a dark wall and a dark frame sits on a pale wall.

On a kitchen wall near the sink the flowers read as broad colour shapes from the table. Step closer and the small painted marks on the leaves come into view.
