/BIG/Cabbage Rose — Fine Art

Jay DeFeo BIG Cabbage Rose opens with a soft flower shape held in a dark field. The title points to a rose, and the marks around it stay broad and quiet. The picture sits inside post war painting in California, where shapes and paint marks often share the same space.

This fine art print is set in a frame with a back panel. The paper is matte, so the darker ground stays even and the lighter marks do not catch a lamp. You can choose ready to hang, and the print arrives assembled in the frame.

It works on a kitchen wall above a table where the morning light falls across the surface. From the breakfast chair you see the rose shape first, and the small marks around it when you move closer.
