Kreise und Quadrate

Coloured rings and solid squares appear side by side in Kreise und Quadrate - 1963. A circular form sits next to a blocky shape, and the tones shift from one mark to the next. Johannes Itten arranged them on the sheet.

A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel holds the shapes flat and keeps the colours from glaring under a ceiling light. The frame sits behind the print and the back panel keeps it in place.

On a dining room wall near the table, the round shapes read first, and the square forms come later. The eye settles on the spacing between each mark.
