About this work
Landscape - 1870 by Armand Guillaumin shows a rolling view of fields and sky painted in broad strokes. The colours run from greens into a pale blue band near the horizon. Thick paint sits on the surface in short layers.
Armand Guillaumin worked in the Impressionist tradition and built his scenes from these visible layers. The print is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. It arrives assembled when the ready to hang option is used.
The matte paper keeps the greens flat and stops the light from catching on the paint marks. A study wall in a reading corner holds the view at eye level. You notice the green bands first, then the pale sky line behind them.
