Light Fan — Fine Art

Light Fan by Sam Gilliam shows a pale band of colour moving across the surface. The paint runs in a loose wash with soft edges, the way he worked with draped canvases. You see the colour build in a single sweep and thin down toward the end.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. White keeps the pale wash open and stops the band from sinking into the background.

On a hallway wall, you notice the band first from the landing. From the kitchen doorway the soft edge reads as a quiet mark against the paint.
