Light in Itself — Fine Art

Light in Itself places open colour over a white field. The paint spreads in thin layers, with some areas left bare. Sam Francis worked this way in his later paintings, letting the white paper stay visible between the colour. You see broad washes that fade at the edges and leave room for the eye to rest.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finish can follow the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

In a dining room, the print hangs on the wall beside the table. From the doorway you see the wide colour areas first, and when you pass by you notice the thinner wash at the lower edge.
