Living Edge

Living Edge - 1973 opens with a wide band of thin wash leading the eye across the sheet. The paint thins out as it reaches the far side, leaving a quiet stretch of bare ground. Helen Frankenthaler lets the stain settle where it wants.

The piece arrives as a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the washed tones soft and the edges stay even when the light changes.

It fits on the wall beside the bed in a narrow bedroom. From the pillow you see the broad stain, and from the door you notice the lighter band at the far edge.
