About this work
Lower Ducktrap - 1978 by Neil Welliver shows a stretch of water with trees along the far edge. The paint sits in loose layers on the surface. You can see the dark tree line reflected in the water below it. The colours stay close to the forest and the river bed.
This fine art print uses a frame in white, wood, dark wood or black. That frame edge keeps the picture clear on the wall. The matte paper keeps the soft greens and browns from shining under a lamp.
It works above the desk in a study. From the doorway you notice the broad tree line first. Sitting down you see the small paint strokes on the water.
