About this work
Main Path and Byways 1929 by Paul Klee shows a network of routes laid across the page. Wide strokes and thin marks suggest a main way with smaller turns running beside it. The drawing reads like a plan of paths rather than a landscape.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives the image a clean edge on the wall. That edge separates the drawing from the plaster and keeps the light greys from losing themselves in the room.
On a hallway wall at shoulder height you see the main route first. From the stair foot the smaller byways appear as small turns and stops in the paper.
