Map of Eastern U.S.S.R. Missile Bases — Fine Art

A map of missile bases in the eastern Soviet Union sits on the page. The title names the subject directly, since the work shows a charted layout of launch sites. The artist worked with silkscreen methods, repeating printed shapes in flat blocks of ink.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. A light source from the side shows the printed lines and the blocks of colour without glare. From a few steps back the layout reads as a chart, up close the edges of the ink become visible.

It fits above a desk where papers and books sit nearby. On a plain wall the map holds its place and the flat shapes stay clear from across the room.
