Marilyn — Fine Art

Marilyn by Grace Hartigan puts a face in the center of the sheet. The features spread into broad strokes of red, blue and cream. The paint sits thick on parts of the surface.

Empty ground keeps space around the head. Grace Hartigan worked in the abstract expressionist style during the mid twentieth century. The fine art print uses a matte paper that holds the paint marks without shine.

A light frame on a dark wall lets the red tones stand out. It works above a kitchen counter at shoulder height when the morning light hits the wall. You see the red sweep first, then the softer blue shapes.
