Martigues Landscape 1908 by Andre Derain — Fine Art

Martigues Landscape 1908 uses bold colour patches and short strokes that Andre Derain favored in his fauvist work. Houses and trees sit along a channel of water under a strong sky. The picture stays flat and bright instead of blending tones.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The print arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back. You press it straight onto a nail or screw, so the sheet goes up without a separate frame. The matte paper keeps the saturated blues and yellows from shining under a lamp.

It suits a dining room wall near the table. From the doorway you catch the rough colour blocks across the room, and when you stand beside the plate rack the small strokes in the water become clear.
