About this work
Mit Und Gegen 1929 opens on a field of thin black lines and small colour patches. A few curves cross the page, and the rest of the surface stays open. The work comes from Wassily Kandinsky and follows his abstract painting practice.
The frame finish can follow the room, so a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture both work. The paper is matte, which keeps the small colour patches flat and lets the lines stay soft under indoor light. This is a fine art print made for that surface.
You see the open field first from a dining room doorway, then the small colour patches near a sideboard. On a kitchen back wall the thin lines read against the counter grain. The image holds its balance there without pulling the eye too hard.
