About this work
A water wheel stands at the edge of a bend in the Creuse river in Moulin Bouchardon, Crozant - 1895. The millstone and its timber frame hold the eye on the right side, while the water and banks leave open space on the left. Armand Guillaumin painted this view with broad strokes and strong colour.
This fine art print comes set in a frame with a back panel, and the ready to hang option means it arrives assembled. The matte surface keeps the greens and greys soft in a lit room, so the painted marks stay readable without shine.
On a hallway wall near the coat cupboard, the wheel and trees draw the eye as you pass through. From a step away the open water on the left feels calm, and the timber frame stands clear against the bank.
