About this work
Mt. Holyoke #45 - 1956 shows a long ridge line crossing the picture with a pale sky above the ground. Edward Corbett trained the eye on the slow curve of the hill and the soft light on the slope. The brushwork moves in steady passes that lay the paint down in broad bands.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The print keeps the broad colour blocks of the hill clear, and the frame holds the edges flat so the ridge line reads without a bend.
It works above the desk in a study, where you sit facing the wall and the slow ridge line holds your eye while the light across the matte surface stays even.
