Mund Mouth Brigitte Bardot S Lips 1963

The title Mund Mouth Brigitte Bardot S Lips 1963 points to a mouth and lips taken from a photograph. The image stays close to that source, with the painted face held in soft focus. Gerhard Richter often works from photographic material and lets the paint blur the outline.

The fine art sheet uses a matte paper so the painted tones stay flat and even under room light. The frame finish can follow the room, so the print fits beside furniture or on its own.

It works on a hallway wall where the light is steady. From the landing you see the soft mouth shape, and the pale tones sit calmly against the paint on the wall.
