My Shanty, Lake George by Georgia OKeeffe — Fine Art

A small wooden house sits near the water in My Shanty, Lake George. Broad painted bands of blue and green push the shoreline forward. The surface holds steady colour planes, the kind seen in american modernism. Georgia OKeeffe worked with large simple shapes and clear edges in her landscape paintings.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives this picture a clean border on the wall. That edge holds the painted water and the dark tree line in place without pulling the eye away. You see the flat planes first, then the frame edge second.

In a hallway with low blue paint, the print sits on the right hand wall near a mirror. From the landing you read the colour bands, and near the door you notice the thin tree marks.
