About this work

Nicolas Irises

Nicolas Irises begins with a soft ground where loose blue and green strokes gather near the lower part of the sheet. The lines move in different directions and leave room between them. Cy Twombly painted in a loose way that keeps the marks open.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame can follow the wall around it. A light frame sits on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The matte surface keeps the blue tones quiet under a lamp.

On a narrow hallway wall you notice the blue strokes before anything else. The marks step back as you pass, and the space between them stays open.

Frequently asked

Yes — this Fine Art piece comes framed and arrives ready to hang. It is printed with our 12-color fine art technology on smooth matte paper (200 gsm), protected by shatterproof plexiglass, and set in a durable pine wood frame. A hanging kit is included, so you can put it straight on the wall.
Our 12-color fine art printing technology delivers vivid, accurate colors with real depth, far beyond standard 4-color inkjet printing. The print is on smooth matte paper (200 gsm, 0.26 mm thick) that gives a clean, glare-free display, and it sits behind shatterproof plexiglass in a durable pine wood frame (20 mm thick, 10 to 14 mm wide). The paper and wood are FSC-certified. Every piece is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and every order is fresh.
