Night Creatures — Fine Art

Night Creatures places a few dark shapes near the lower edge on a quiet field. The empty space above them holds the weight of the picture. Lee Krasner built these shapes with broad paint strokes and quick gestures. The marks stay open and uneven across the sheet.

This fine art print sits on matte paper with a light grey cast. The surface stays dull, so the dark shapes do not glare under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It hangs in a stairwell where the eye drops to the shapes first. From the landing you read the dark forms before you notice the blank field above them.
