Due rettangoli, uno ocra, uno marrone, si trovano all'interno di un campo nero. No. 11 è il nome che Rothko gli diede nel 1963. Il blocco ocra galleggia leggermente sopra il centro, i suoi bordi sfumati nel nero. Sotto, il rettangolo marrone preme contro il bordo inferiore, più scuro del campo stesso. Nessuna delle due forme tocca i lati, lasciando sottili margini neri che mantengono i rettangoli sospesi.
