Number 13A Arabesque 1948 shows a field of thin sweeping lines laid over a pale ground. The strokes run in arcs and curves, with most of the weight near the centre and open space around the edges. A few darker runs cross over lighter ones, leaving small gaps between the lines.

Hang it on a hallway wall at shoulder height, with the light from the corridor window hitting the lower part. From the far end of the hall you notice the arcs, and from the middle you see the small gaps between the lines.
