Number 15 - 1952 by Ad Reinhardt sits on a flat painted ground with a few dark lines near the centre. The lines cross at different angles and leave thin gaps between them. You can see where the brush slowed down at the ends.

The frame is black and gives the picture a sharp edge on the wall. That dark border keeps the light painted areas from fading into the room. The print is a fine art print made to hold the flat tone of the original.

It works above a narrow desk in a study. From the doorway you see the dark lines first. When you lean in you notice the even gaps between them.
