About this work
Oregon Coast by Milton Avery (1947)
The rugged coastline of Oregon unfolds in Milton Avery's Oregon Coast. This 1947 piece captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest with a simplicity that invites contemplation.
Avery's use of muted blues and greens creates a serene atmosphere, while the soft edges of the cliffs and the calm sea suggest a quiet, enduring beauty. The sky, a pale expanse, meets the water at a barely perceptible horizon, blending seamlessly into the landscape. The composition is balanced, with the land, sea, and sky each claiming their space.
This poster brings a sense of calm and openness to a study, library, or quiet corner.
