Pan II — Fine Art

Pan II by Cy Twombly shows a pale sheet with loose handwritten signs and soft marks gathered in a few places. The drawing follows a familiar method of scribbled line and pale tone. You read the signs like steps across the page.

The fine art print sits in a clean white frame that sets a plain edge against the pale sheet. The white frame keeps the light tones open and stops the surface from feeling spread out across the wall.

On a study desk wall the small pencil marks show up beside a lamp shade. From the desk you notice the signs first, then the faint grey tone in the lower half.
