About this work
Piero Dorazio painted the Paplito della Luce - 1983 with thin bands of colour crossing the picture. The bands break into small strands where they meet. Warm orange and cool blue sit next to each other and mix at the edges. You see the colour most clearly from a few steps back.
The fine art print keeps the thin paint lines soft. A light frame sits well on a dark wall, and a dark frame works on a pale wall. The matte surface holds the pale grounds without shine.
It hangs on the dining room wall near the side door. The narrow colour bands stay steady in the evening light. When you walk past, the orange and blue still read as separate tones.
