About this work
Passage of the Mirrors - 1981 shows a field of thin painted lines turning back on themselves. The lines cross and loop across a muted ground, so the picture reads like a passage between surfaces. Maria Helena Vieira da Silva worked with architectural space and fractured views in her abstract paintings.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The surface is matte, so the pale lines stay soft and the painted crossings do not turn shiny under a lamp.
It suits a hallway wall beside a narrow shelf. From the end of the hall you see the crossings as a soft grid. Closer up the thin lines and the painterly crossings show more.
