Pendulum — Fine Art

Pendulum - 1972 by Helen Frankenthaler shows a broad band of thin paint spread across the sheet. The wash tilts from one side to the other and leaves an uneven edge. The colour stays thin and open where the brush passed once.

The fine art print keeps that washed look on a matte sheet, so the tint does not shine under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the open colour hold the wall without competing with it.

On a living room wall at shoulder height the band reads as one moving shape. From the doorway you see the tilt of the wash, and the thin edge of the paint stays clear in the afternoon light.
