Pocahontas — Fine Art

Pocahontas - 1978 by Gene Davis sets painted colour bands across the sheet in one steady direction. The bands step through one hue at a time. One wide band holds the weight near the centre. The rest of the sheet stays open.

This fine art print uses a matte surface, so the soft transitions between bands stay even and there is no shine under a lamp. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. Each finish gives the picture a clean edge on the wall.

On a landing wall, you notice the step of each band from the bottom of the stairs. The white frame keeps the bands separate from the plaster. The eye moves from one colour to the next without stopping.
