Pot of Geraniums — Fine Art

Pot of Geraniums shows a round pot filled with red and pink flower heads against a plain ground. Green leaves press up around the rim while the petals sit in rounded bunches. The brush strokes stay separate and the paint looks built up in layers.

Paul Cézanne worked with this kind of slow build up of colour. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel gives the image a steady edge. The surface stays flat so the separate strokes stay visible without shine.

You might hang it in a bedroom over a low chest. From the foot of the bed the round pot and the flat ground hold the picture together. The small red heads are easy to count from that distance. The green leaves frame the top of the pot.
