Raspberry Icicle - 1967 by Gene Davis opens on a row of flat painted bands that step through deep red tones. The raspberry shade sits next to cooler near-black marks, so the colour feels quiet instead of loud. The bands run in one direction and stay even.

The fine art print uses matte paper, so the red tones stay soft and the dark bands do not shine under a lamp. The frame finish can match the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It fits a stairwell wall near a landing light. From the first step you notice the red bands, and from the top you see the small changes in tone between them.
