Red and Brown — Fine Art

Red and Brown - 1957 shows two stacked colour fields on the sheet. A dark band sits near the top and a warmer brown tone runs below it.

The painted shapes blur at their edges where the tones meet. Mark Rothko worked with thin layers of paint to build these broad panels.

The fine art print keeps those soft transitions on matte paper so the light browns do not turn shiny under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, a dark wood frame beside timber furniture or a pale frame on a darker wall. It fits a hallway wall near the stairs, where you pass it daily and notice the shift from the brown lower field to the darker band above.
