Reel

Reel - 1961 shows curved bands that follow one another across the sheet. The bands shift in tone and leave a measured field of colour. Thomas Downing arranged these shapes with a steady hand. The layout feels calm and built on repetition.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black and sets a clear edge around the picture. A white frame keeps the bands open. A dark wood frame gives the edge more weight against the lighter tones.

On a bedroom wall the bands read as a quiet field at night. From the doorway the eye catches the even colour first, then the small shifts between one band and the next. The room stays calm.
