Rosso scuro

A deep red field fills most of the sheet in Rosso scuro - 1974, with a softer red band running off the right edge. Carla Accardi built these works with thin sheets of acetate laid over paint, so the surface reads as layered colour rather than a flat wash.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need to buy a frame. The matte finish keeps the red tones flat under a lamp and the edge of the sheet stays clean.

It sits well above a desk in a study, where the desk lamp throws a small warm patch on the lower edge and the rest of the red field stays even.
