Seine — Fine Art

The painting Seine by Ellsworth Kelly shows a single horizontal band of colour cutting across a plain ground. The edge runs steady from one side to the other. You can see the pressure stay the same along the whole line.

This fine art print uses a wood frame. The wood finish sets a clear border around the colour field, so the edge of the picture reads as a separate line on the wall.

On a narrow stairwell landing, the band of colour reads as a strong horizontal mark against the steps. From the bottom of the stairs you notice the steady line before you see the frame.
