Sentimental Music — Fine Art

Sentimental Music - 1913 by Arthur Dove uses soft colour shapes and thin pale lines on a warm ground. The forms drift across the sheet and read as notes and rests on a quiet field.

You see the broad strokes from the door and the small pencil changes near the edge. The white frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall and keeps the pale band from fading into the surface.

This fine art print sits on a narrow hall wall where the morning light falls from the side. From the landing you notice the repeated shapes and the small pencil marks.
