About this work
Series DW - 1967 shows a small rectangular mark placed near the left on a pale ground. The ground is smooth, and the rectangle reads as a flat block of tone. You notice the empty space around it before the mark itself.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The rectangle reads as a single painted block. It belongs to the serial and systematic practice Charlotte Posenenske used for her wall reliéves. The finish is matte, so the light tone stays soft and the rectangle does not shine under a lamp.
The frame finish follows the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. It hangs on a pale plaster wall in a study, above a desk.
