Still Life with Water Jug — Fine Art

Still Life with Water Jug by Paul Cézanne builds a simple table scene with a jug, cloth and fruit. The paint sits in short separate strokes, holding the shapes together through colour rather than outline.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge that stays quiet next to the busy paint surfaces. With a wood frame the edge warms up and sits closer to the earth tones in the cloth.

On a kitchen wall near the sink the light from the window falls across the jug and the cloth folds. You notice the slow build of the paint from a few steps away, and the separate strokes when you stand closer to the glass.
