About this work
Superamento Terrestre 1932 uses flat colour planes that lean against each other and a few sharp black lines. Enrico Prampolini painted these forms with steady pressure, so the edges stay crisp and the surface stays even. The picture shows a small group of geometric shapes arranged in a plain field.
The fine art print uses matte paper, so the flat tones stay even and no shine pulls the eye from the shapes. A dark wood frame beside a white wall lets the crisp edges sit without competing with the surface.
It hangs on a pale hall wall, seen from the stair landing. From that distance the colours stay separate and the lines keep their shape.
