About this work
Take Off, 1956- shows a line moving across the sheet with thin washes of colour behind it. The mark looks quick and open, with edges that let the sheet show through. Helen Frankenthaler worked with soak stain painting in this period.
The fine art frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black and gives the image a clear edge on the wall. A black frame sits close to the line and keeps the edge plain.
Above a desk the line reads from across the room and the thin colour stays quiet near the lamp. From the chair you see the pressure in the mark and the sheet under it.
