Targets Ulae 41 — Fine Art

Targets Ulae 41 shows concentric rings set against a plain field. Jasper Johns painted the target shape with thick paint and careful edges. The rings move from a strong inner circle to softer outer bands. A few rough strokes sit near the center of each ring.

The fine art print sits on matte paper so the painted rings keep a soft face and the light bands do not shine under a lamp.

On a dining room wall above a long table, you notice the nearest ring first, then the outer bands step back. From the doorway the target reads as a simple set of circles, and the painted marks show when you pass by.
