Telephone — Fine Art

A telephone handset rests in the centre of the page in Telephone by Andy Warhol. The outlines are drawn with quick black lines. Some parts sit in solid colour while others stay open.

The screen print practice the artist is known for shows in the thick ink bands. The fine art print keeps the flat colour blocks clear on the paper. Hang it on a pale wall at eye level.

From across the room the bold shapes read first. Up close you see the rough edges where the ink was pressed through the screen. A visitor sees the telephone shape before the marks.
