About this work
Pointed rock walls drop straight down beside a pale sea in The Cliffs of Douvres 1881. Short paint strokes build the shore in cool blues and warm sand tones. The work shows a rocky coast in the pointillist painting practice of Theo van Rysselberghe.
The paper stays matte so the colour dots stay soft and do not shine under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, a dark frame on a pale wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. This fine art print keeps the sea tones even and the rock details steady.
It fits a dining room wall over a wooden table. From the far corner you notice the bright stone edge first. The blue water band stays calm and the dots stay small.
